Installation Last Updated 4/4/2018
Before you start. You need to be able to do the following in Windows.
- Open the Device Manager.
- Determine if your Operating Systems is 64 or 32 bit.
Download & Install Angel Drivers
Pololu - Windows (10, 8.1, 8, 7 & XP) Drivers
Before you connect your AngelWriter device to a computer running Microsoft Windows, you should install its drivers:
- Download the CP2102 drivers for Windows from the link above (4MB zip).
- IMPORTANT: You must extract the zip archive into a temporary directory. DO NOT attempt to double-click or run any of the files until you have extracted them.
- Open the temporary directory and run the appropriate executable. If you have a 64-bit operating system, you should run pololu-cp2102-setup-x64.exe. If you have a 32-bit operating system, you should run pololu-cp2102-setup-x86.exe.
- During the installation, Windows will ask you if you want to install the drivers. Click "Install" (Windows 10, 8, 7, and Vista) or "Continue Anyway" (Windows XP).
- The installer should complete successfully.
Windows XP Users need to also perform the following steps
- Connect the device to your computer's USB port. Your computer will detect the new hardware and open the Found New Hardware Wizard.
- When the Found New Hardware Wizard is displayed, select "No, not this time" and click "Next".
- On the second screen of the Found New Hardware Wizard, select "Install the software automatically" and click "Next".
- Windows XP will warn you again that the driver has not been tested by Microsoft and recommend that you stop the installation. Click "Continue Anyway".
- When you have finished the Found New Hardware Wizard, click "Finish".
If you look in Device Manager you should see something like the following. Installation has been a success. Stop here.
If that did not work try this
If the above was not successfull then right click on the Pololu item in Device manager and click "Uninstall Device" and follow the instructions below.
Generic Device Drivers - Select the correct version for your opperating system
Windows 10 (v10.1.1)
Windows 7/8/8.1/10 (v6.7.5)
Windows XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8/8.1 (v6.7)
Follow these instuctions once you have downloaded the drivers
- Unpack the files and run the x64 installer for an x64 system (x32 for a 32 bit system) Windows should say drivers installed correctly.
- Next plug in the Angel and go into device manager. You should see Pololu in unknown devices. Right click and click "install device drivers."
- Click browse. Then "let me pick a device driver from a list of installed drivers on this machine."
- Select the "ports" category. The. Select "Silicon laboratories" from the list.
- You should now have a whole heap of drivers to choose from. All of which are CP2102 uart drivers. The top one should be "Silicon Labs cp210x USB to UART Bridge" Select that and click next and accept any windows warnings.
- You should have a new Pololu installed under "Ports" in device manager that has no yellow exclamation mark. A clean install with a COM port number. In my case COM3.
